STONE WARES

These hand built pots are notes to my childhood self who couldn’t decide if he wanted to be an architect or a geologist. Clay is made by the erosion of stone over thousands of years, in my hands it is wonderfully maleable, and through the fires of the kiln it becomes stone again. In that spirit I make these pots to celebrate the transformations that turn a stone into a vessel that can serve our imaginations as well as our appetites. My hope is that, if time allows, these pots will become dear companions in your daily lives.

SKYLINE SERIES

These wheel thrown pots celebrate the coastal skyline here in Mendocino and all it’s moods. They are decorated with slips, stains, and glazes with brush strokes that blend and melt into each other during the firing. The alterations to the form, and movement on the surfaces add character and depth to these pots that will have you looking at them again and again over years of daily use.

BASSINETS

This collection of sculptural vessels are made to hold space for the beautiful nourishing and temporal things that come into our lives. Whether in the form of flowers from your garden, fruit from the farmer’s market, berries foraged on hikes, or trinkets from adventures that have ended, I believe the small nourishing treats should have a beautiful place in your home.

BOTTLES

Bottles are the most secretive and alluring pots, and have continued to be one of my favorite forms to make. They lend themselves to the drama and action of the wood kiln as they can withstand areas in the kiln other forms cannot. Each of these bottles has their own unique story to tell and will celebrate the contents they carry. They are very durable and highly functional.
